3. Where can I find up to date information about events in the classroom or at Wexler Grant School?
Visit the Upcoming Events page to find information regarding school closures, delays, scheduled days off, and early dismissals! You will, also, read about upcoming birthdays, events, field trips, changes at the school, progress and report card nights. The newsletter is sent out monthly with weekly updates/reminders on your child's homework packet. Please be sure to read the newsletter to keep in constant contact and stay informed!
4. I would like to schedule a meeting. When are you available?
Generally, I am available Wednesdays & Thursdays, after school, around 2:30 p.m. However, I must receive notification that you would like to meet before you actually arrive to the school. If you send a note and I have not confirmed your appointment, I may not be available or present to meet.
5. What are Wexler's school hours?
School begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00. The school opens as early as 7:30 a.m. for breakfast. On half days, the day is shortened by 2 hours and we dismiss at 12:00 p.m. The buses will operate on the same schedule, just arrive 2 hours earlier than you would have on a full day (i.e. If the bus usually arrives at 2:35 p.m., on a half day it will arrive at 12:35 p.m.)
6. What's the dress code at Wexler Grant?
Students must wear uniform at Wexler, the colors are navy blue and khaki bottoms (pants, dresses, skirts, and shorts). Hoodies are not worn in school so please try to find your child a sweater or sweatshirt for cold days. Please do not send your child in flip flops and open toed sandals during the warmer months. They are unsafe for the school environment.
7. What's the attendance policy?
Your child will be closely monitored by the teacher, school secretary, and truancy officer whenever they are absent for 5 or more days in a given marking period. After 20 absences, your child will be considered chronically truant and possibly recommended for retention. More than 20 absences can result in the parent's name being referred to family court for further action. Please be mindful of tardiness as well. Frequent tardy and absent days directly effect your child's academic success and can, also, lead to retention in his/her grade.
